About...meeeeee

I was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in my mom's hometown of Saginaw, Michigan.  Perhaps you've heard of it?  I can almost guarantee if you're not from the area and think you've heard of Saginaw, you're actually thinking of Saugerties, a beautiful little town on the west side of the state, on Lake Michigan.  Saginaw is on the east side of the state and...not that pretty.  No shade!  I had a great time growing up there and my folks, David and Audrey Lewis, lived there until they passed away.  Here are a couple photos of them:

My folks were very involved in community theatre, primarily the one in Saginaw - Pit & Balcony, although they both did shows in Midland and Bay City too.  They were SO involved, Pit & Balcony renamed the auditorium after them recently, which is a gesture they would have been horrified (but secretly delighted) by.  Personally, I am just straight-up delighted by it.

I think both of these photos were taken at Halloween parties...?  Also, loving how my dad is wearing THE SAME SHIRT in both pics.  I'm sure you can guess their costumes in the second photo.  Not sure about the first one.  Seems as if they went the simple "themed T-shirt" route that year.

I went to college in Michigan (not AT Michigan, I went to Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, which as a child I thought was a made-up city) , then grad school at Temple University in Philadelphia and have been in NYC ever since!

I love living in the city - from the moment I arrived I thought, "Holy shit!  FINALLY a place where I'm not too loud!"  I have never had any real desire to live anywhere else.  I get to see lots of other places via regional theatre jobs and so I'm allllll set, lol.  I think at this point I'll be leaving "feet first" some day, as my mom would have said.

I currently have two cats and one dog, down from three cats and two dogs (a status referred to as "pets Laura-style" by a friend's kid), and I also have a child.  It's a lot of sentient life-forms to be responsible for but I wouldn't have it any other way.
